FAQ
Common questions
The things people usually want to know before booking. If your question is not here, call 0458 007 583 or send an enquiry.
No. You can book a private physiotherapy appointment directly, online or by phone. A referral is only needed for specific funding arrangements, such as a Medicare Chronic Disease Management plan from your GP.
Yes, and most of the people I see are not athletes. Back pain, neck pain, shoulder and knee problems, ankle injuries, tendon pain and work-related aches make up the bulk of the work. The elite sport background shapes how carefully the assessment is done. It is not an entry requirement.
Most of it is assessment. We talk through what happened, what aggravates it and what you want to get back to. I test movement and strength, explain what I think is going on and how confident I am, then we agree on the first steps. Treatment on the day where it helps.
Initial consultations run 45 minutes and review consultations 30 minutes, in practice or by video. An extended consultation runs 45 minutes and a Return to Performance Assessment runs 60. Current fees are on the fees page.
Book an initial consultation. That is the right starting point for a new problem, or if you have not been seen here before. If you would rather ask first, call 0458 007 583.
Wear or bring clothes you can move and be assessed in. Shorts help for lower-limb problems. Bring any scan reports, referral letters or current exercise programs. The written reports matter more than the images themselves.
Yes. Eligible private health extras rebates are claimed on the spot through Tyro Health, so you only pay the gap. Bring your health fund card to the appointment.
Medicare Chronic Disease Management plans are accepted with a valid GP referral. The rebate is claimed on the day and a gap applies. WorkCover, TAC and DVA arrangements are not currently accepted — get in touch and I will point you toward a clinic that does.
Yes. Telehealth video consultations run 45 minutes for an initial appointment and 30 for a review, and suit follow-ups, exercise programming and ongoing rehabilitation support. A first appointment is best done in person where possible, so the assessment can be hands-on.
Metered and time-limited street parking is available on and around Bridge Road. Spaces fill quickly at peak times. Trams 48 and 75 run along Bridge Road, and West Richmond and East Richmond stations are both within walking distance. Full details on the contact page.
The clinic is inside Uplift Gym at 507 Bridge Road. Enter through the main gym entrance and take a seat near the front — there is no traditional reception, so I will come out to meet you. No gym membership is needed. If the door is locked, call or text 0458 007 583.
Yes, and it is often useful. For junior athletes especially, a parent or coach hearing the plan first-hand makes the rehabilitation work better between appointments.
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations inside 24 hours, and missed appointments, may be charged up to the full consultation fee. Full policy on the fees page.
